ABA Gives Back

Since Marketplace 2007, ABA Gives Back has raised more than $347,000 for local charities. The Marketplace Advisory Committee selects a charity with a tie to the host city to raise funds for during the week of ABA Marketplace.

2020 ABA Gives Back Charity: Scatter Joy Acres

ABA is proud to designate Scatter Joy Acres in Omaha, Neb. as its ABA Gives Back charity for its 2020 Marketplace in Omaha, Jan. 10-14, 2020.

“The farm’s program of providing therapeutic interaction for developmentally disabled and autistic children, seniors, veterans and at-risk children with animals embodies the spirit of why we started this program back in 2007,” said ABA President & CEO Peter Pantuso. “Scatter Joy Acres is helping an underserved community in Omaha in an innovative way.”

In choosing to support Scatter Joy Acres, the Marketplace Advisory Committee said the mission of Scatter Joy Acres was not only moving but so important to the community in Omaha. Not only did the farm help children and adults in need of peace and tranquility that connecting with animals brings, the farm also rescues animals in need. The connection between visitors to the farm and its animal residents was evident.

The Scatter Joy Acres ranch is home to more than 100 animals like alpacas, sheep, rabbits, goats, horses, cows, and a camel, a variety of fowl, pigs, and peacocks.

According to Joy Bartling, executive director of the Scatter Joy Acres, she hopes by partnering with ABA during Marketplace that enough money will be raised to build a new outdoor shelter for the animals for when visitors come in bad weather.
